Saturday, Sept. 21 - The Weather Has Improved

Another leisurely morning. Our morning objective was to walk across the river and check out the huge market that runs the length of Avenue President Wilson. Yes, some French bureaucrat decided that President Wilson had been very kind to France by sending our doughboys over to support the French during WWI and decided to name a very exclusive street for him. On the way over the Seine, we stopped to admire the tour boats that were already cruising the river.
A lovely sight-notice the blue sky

Near where we crossed the river is the location where Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were killed. Many people still leave flowers and other mementoes as a tribute.
                                                         Not many flowers today

The Avenue Wilson market is well-known for its length and thus the extensive collection of foodstuffs, clothing and trinkets. Since the area where it's located is one of the more upscale neighborhoods in the city, the quality of everything is quite good.
Quite a lot of set up for a few hours work
The aroma from this stand was overwhelming

After plodding through the market, trying to dodge the Parisians and their food carts, we continued up the hill to the Trocadero, overlooking the Eiffel Tower. The last times we were there was during the wintery months (December and March) and the veranda overlooking the Eiffel Tower was crowded, but today it was over-crowded with tourists. You could, if you tried, hear every language under the sun. Speaking of sun, I guess a beautiful, warm day brings out the locals as well as the visitors. We made our way across the Seine, underneath the Eiffel Tower to a familiar spot so Lloyd could prove he is actually along on this trip. (He's the camera operator, he doesn't make it into too may shots.)

On the way to dinner this evening we walked past the door leading to one of our favorite Paris Perfect apartments. The little shop next to "our" former green door was a flower shop; now it is a cute little coffee shop. It's fun to visit a neighborhood and see what is different and what has stayed constant since the last visit.
This was formerly an adorable flower shop

By the way, we've discovered one of the reasons that people buy Smart cars--particularly where parking is such a premium.
                                                              Have a bon weekend.
